Eagle Dance Team

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the new Eagle Dance Team for the 2020-2021 Academic Year!  This team has been created in response to student interest and we are excited to see what comes of this endeavor!

We hosted our first "audition weekend" April 25-26th online and we are thrilled to announce the newest members of the New Eagle Dance Team!

We will reach out to the selected dancers soon to discuss next steps.  Please email cmcniel@tamut.edu if you have any questions.

Below are some FAQ's for the Eagle Dance Team.  Any other questions should be directed to cmcniel@tamut.edu.

Q: Where will the Eagle Dance Team perform?

A:  The Eagle Dance Team will perform at special campus events, all home basketball games, select soccer and baseball games, and hopefully have the ability to participate in competitions.

Q: What should I wear to tryouts?

A: Women should wear black leggings, a form fitted tank top, and dance shoes (jazz shoes are fine).  Hair should be down and styled nicely.  Men should wear black pants, tank top, and dance shoes (jazz shoes are fine).

Q: Is formal dance training required?

A:  No.  There will be some minimum expected skills that dancers will be able to do but we will work on those skills during the tryout workshop on Saturday, April 25th.  Anyone who has a love of dance and performance should at least come and try.

Q: What styles of dance will we perform?

A:  We expect to perform jazz, hip hop, and pom routines.

Q: Will it cost money to be on the dance team?

A: There will be some expenses for the dancer which we will go over at the audition workshop.  The University will fund uniforms, poms, and most of the competition fees.  Dancers will be expected to purchase tights, shoes, and their practice gear which they will be able to keep.

Q: What are the requirements to be on the Eagle Dance Team?

A:  It is expected that our dancers are enrolled as full-time students (at least 12 hours for undergraduates and 6 hours for graduate students), they will be expected to have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and be in good standing with the University, and all dancers will have to participate in the scheduled tryout and be selected.
