HIPs Information

High-Impact Practices (HIPs) are a critical component of the Eagle Experience. HIPs are "teaching and learning practices [that] have been widely tested and have been shown to be beneficial for college students from many backgrounds. These practices take many different forms, depending on learner characteristics and on institutional priorities and contexts (https://www.aacu.org/leap/hips)."  In Summer 2016, staff and faculty participated in HIPs training with the prestigious Association of American Colleges & Universities (AAC&U) and identified the need to incorporate HIPs into, particularly, lower division course work for student retention and persistence.

Why are HIPs important (from Kuh, A&M-Kingsville, April 2017)?
