Texas A&M University-Texarkana student Chandler Moree will be getting a chance to put his education to work this summer when he begins his internship at Lockheed Martin’s Operations Facility in Lufkin, TX. The facility is home to 250 employees who perform circuit card assembly, wire harness assembly and final assembly, integration, and testing for programs such as the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) guided missile, the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) guided missile, the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) guided missile, and the Tactical Missile System (TACMS) guided missile.

Chandler is an Electrical Engineering and Computer Science double major from Huntington, TX, just outside of Lufkin. While he is only in his second year at A&M-Texarkana, he will have enough credit hours to be considered a senior at the end of the spring 2019 semester.

“This is a pretty amazing opportunity,” Chandler commented. “I’m from a really small town. It only has one stoplight. Coming from a place like that you don’t necessarily think about being able to work on things like missile defense systems. It’s mind boggling, really.”

Chandler’s internship begins on May 20th and will run for the duration of his summer break. While part of his assignment will be classified, he knows that some of his duties will include working on hardware systems and in database design and administration.
