EL Showcase Participation Guidelines

To participate in EL Showcase, students may present a poster (recommended), multi-media or 5-minute presentation on April 23rd. Students presenting posters or multi-media presentations must commit to displaying their presentations from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on April 23rd. We request all presenters make every effort to be present at lunch (12:00-1:00 p.m.) for student awards and EL Celebration. If this is not possible due to work commitments, for example, student should make arrangements with faculty member mentoring them on the presentation. Students are to contact their discipline faculty if interested in participating.

There are 3 steps to participate in EL Showcase: 1) Contact faculty, 2) Presentation Preparation and 3) Day of EL Showcase...Present!

STEP 1: Contact Faculty

STEP 2: Presentation Preparation

Students must work with designated faculty member to prepare presentation. The faculty member must approve final presentation prior to EL Showcase.

Poster Presentations (recommended):

Students will present poster using EL Showcase template (see email attachment). Faculty member will advise student on formatting for poster based on standards in their discipline. In addition, students will type a reflection of their experience in the work based on LEAP rubric on integrative learning. Essentially, the reflection (printed on 8 1/2 x 11 sheet) should answer the questions: How did your participation in the project, internship, etc. deepen your understanding in your discipline? How did your participation in the project, internship, etc. support your vision of your future self? Student should set up poster and reflection between 8-9 AM on April 23rd. They may take their work after the noon celebration.

Digital Presentations:

Students may present a summary of their work or the work itself in 3-5 minutes. The digital presentation should be provided to the discipline contact by April 5th.  In addition, students will type a reflection of their experience in the work based on LEAP rubric on integrative learning. Essentially, the reflection (printed on 8 1/2 x 11 sheet) should answer the questions: How did your participation in the project, internship, etc. deepen your understanding in your discipline? How did your participation in the project, internship, etc. support your vision as your future self? You may email your reflection to angela.gideons@tamut.edu by April 22nd.
