EL Showcase Participation Guidelines

To participate in EL Showcase, students may present a poster (recommended), multi-media or 5-minute presentation on May 1st. Students presenting posters or multi-media presentations must commit to displaying their presentations from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM on May 1st. Students doing 5-minute presentation will be given a time between 10:00 - 11:45 a.m. We request all presenters make every effort to be present at lunch (12:00-1:00 p.m.) for student awards and faculty recognition. If this is not possible due to work commitments, for example, student should make arrangements with faculty member mentoring them on the presentation.

There are 3 steps to participate in EL Showcase: 1) Register for Participation, 2) Presentation Preparation and 3) Day of EL Showcase...Present!

STEP 1: Register to Present

Students should use the following form to register. All students must work with a faculty member to participate. 

 

STEP 2: Presentation Preparation

Students must work with designated faculty member to prepare presentation. The faculty member must approve final presentation prior to EL Showcase. 

Multi-media presentations:

    Students may present a summary of their work or work itself on a laptop. Students must use their own laptop. Presentation of work will be evaluated using EL Showcase Rubric. Students must submit an abstract of presentation by April 18th. Abstract document should include title of presentation, student name, faculty name and abstract. Abstract documents and questions can be directed to sara.lawrence@tamut.edu.

5-minute presentations:

    Students may present a summary of their work or work itself in 3-5 minutes. Due to time limitations, no technology will be allowed to support presentation. Presentation of work will be evaluated using EL Showcase Rubric. Students must submit an abstract of presentation by April 18th. Abstract document should include title of presentation, student name, faculty name and abstract. Abstract documents and questions can be directed to sara.lawrence@tamut.edu.

Poster presentations (recommended):

     Students will present poster using EL Showcase template - click to view example. To obtain template, student may email lindsey.clark@tamut.edu  from their ace email account. Students should consult faculty mentor regarding poster format as there are specific poster formats used by different academic disciplines. Posters will be evaluated using EL Showcase Rubric. Students must submit final poster on EL Showcase Template AND SAVED AS A PDF to lindsey.clark@tamut.edu no later than April 18th. Posters not on EL Showcase Template will not be printed. 

STEP 3: DAY OF EL SHOWCASE! PRESENT!

May 1st - 8:30-9:30 AM 

All presenters are to bring their presentations to Eagle Hall for set up between 8:30-9:30. Only presentations set up by 9:30 will be eligible for award evaluation. There will be faculty/staff there to assign presentation spots. Number of available spots will be based on presentation registrations. 

5-minute presentation times will be assigned via email on April 25th. Students should arrive 15-minutes before their presentation time.

May 1st 12:00 - 1:00 PM

Student awards and faculty recognition will be presented during lunch. 

Students may take down presentations between 2:00 - 3:00 PM.
